MOGADISHU – Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Isse Awad says his government is ready to resume talks with the breakaway region of Somaliland.
While speaking to the foreign diplomats, Awad explained why his government cut ties with Guinea over Somaliland.
He says his country would not accept from Guinea or any other country to interfere in Somalia internal affairs and sovereignty.
The Somalia-Somaliland talks have been in stalemate for many years since the last round of talks held in Turkey in 2015 that ended without result due to tough conditions.
Somaliland which declared unilateral independence from the rest of Somalia in 1991 has been seeking international recognition, however, its efforts haven’t so far proved successful.
